{"id":477,"date":"2016-05-10T15:03:57","date_gmt":"2016-05-10T19:03:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beta.research.ece.ncsu.edu\/ael\/?p=477"},"modified":"2016-06-10T15:31:24","modified_gmt":"2016-06-10T19:31:24","slug":"477","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.ece.ncsu.edu\/ael\/2016\/05\/10\/477\/","title":{"rendered":"IEEE-TAP Special Issue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our recent paper was <a href=\"https:\/\/news.ncsu.edu\/2016\/04\/adams-mimo-model-2016\/\">highlighted by NC State<\/a>\u00a0as well as several other websites, including\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eetimes.com\/document.asp?doc_id=1329511\">the EE Times<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>The paper, <a href=\"http:\/\/ieeexplore.ieee.org\/xpls\/abs_all.jsp?arnumber=7453139\">Computing and Visualizing the Input Parameters of Arbitrary Planar Antennas Via Eigenfunctions<\/a>, will be\u00a0published in the July 2016 issue of IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation.<\/p>\n<p>In the paper, we describe a fast method for calculating the input impedance\u00a0of a probe-fed planar antenna. \u00a0Because the method is faster than conventional simulations, we can test the input impedance at many points to create impedance &#8220;heat maps&#8221; such as the one shown in the image. \u00a0This provides a useful tool for antenna engineers to quickly evaluate where to place the feed probe.<\/p>\n<p>In the same issue, we also have a related paper entitled, <a href=\"http:\/\/ieeexplore.ieee.org\/xpls\/abs_all.jsp?arnumber=7225124\">Systematic Shape Optimization of Symmetric MIMO Antennas Using Characteristic Modes<\/a>\u00a0which provides a framework for relating the behavior of the decoupled port modes of a multiport antenna to its underlying characteristic modes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our recent paper was highlighted by NC State\u00a0as well as several other websites, including\u00a0the EE Times!
