Linear Variable Capacitor

Research Description:

The parasitic nonlinear capacitance of diodes is well-known in power electronics literature. This research analytically confirms that the non-linear parasitic capacitance of two back-to-back reverse-biased diodes can act as a linear variable capacitor (LVC) and derives a model describing the relation between LVC capacitance and circuit and diode parameters. The proposed model can be used to design circuits with LVC for achieving higher objectives such as load regulations and power control. The application of the model in designing various converters will be the subject of future publications.
