Hatif Bin Abdul Majeed

Ph.D. Student

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, North Carolina State University

Hatif was born and raised in Multan, a city in the Southern part of Punjab, Pakistan. He graduated from “University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Pakistan” with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (2014). He then received an M.S. degree in Energy Systems Engineering from “National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad” (2018). During his Masters, he worked on “Temperature Co-efficient degradation of Field aged PV modules and its effect on performance evaluation and degradation rate determinations” while he was visiting Photovoltaic Reliability Lab at Arizona State University as a fully funded Research Exchange Scholar. Furthermore, he worked on a project “Performance comparison of Linear Controllers for Voltage Dip Mitigation using Dynamic Voltage Restorer” as a major part of his master’s thesis. He has also worked as “Assistant Manager (Operations) at Lahore Electric Supply Company, Pakistan” where he handled a variety of technical as well as managerial tasks. He has been working as a “Lecturer” at Air University Islamabad for more than 3 years where, apart from working as a lead instructor for multiple courses, he undertook several administrative tasks related to policy and curriculum revision at the departmental and institutional levels. He also supervised multiple undergraduate and graduate students working on different projects including “Active and Reactive Power Control using Distributed Power Flow Controller, Performance Evaluation of Multilevel Inverters using THIPWM Technique, PI based Pitch Angle Control of Wind Turbine”. Owing to his diverse experience, he was selected as a “Fulbright Scholar” by the “U.S. Department of State” to pursue his PhD program at NC State University (2021).

His research interests include Distributed Generation Systems, Grid-tied Converters, Grid integration of Renewable Energy Sources, and Linear Controllers. He is currently pursuing his coursework at NC State and looking forward to working in RELACS.

In his spare time, he enjoys music, movies, cricket, and hiking.
