The NCSU STEM Scholars program at NC State University in Raleigh, NC accepts motivated and academically talented students interested in engineering and statistics disciplines. We offer a comprehensive package of financial, mentoring, and career support to NC undergraduate students from admission through graduation.

Under this National Science Foundation supported program, Scholars participate in mentoring programs that involve undergraduate, graduate, faculty and industry professionals and learn the necessary skills to succeed in the academic environment and beyond. The faculty team is multidisciplinary from different departments in the College of Engineering and College of Sciences.


NCSU STEM Scholars will have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in the summer transition program prior to the start of the regular academic year when admitted to NC State
  • Attend seminars by professionals from industry partners
  • Tour laboratories and research facilities of different engineering and science disciplines
  • Participate in activities of the NC State undergraduate research program
  • Meet and talk to faculty about different disciplines
  • Participate in career planning sessions
  • Learn to communicate effectively and acquire high ethical standards and professionalism

Who Should Apply

The program welcomes independent, highly motivated high school senior students interested in majoring in fields related to engineering and statistics with proven financial need through FAFSA.

Women, underrepresented minorities and undergraduate students already admitted to NC State are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions.
