The preferred text editor for the group is LaTeX. The best method of
introducing figures in LaTeX is to use external .eps (encapsulated
postscript) files. The original description of the recipe was on Dr. Mueller's
resource page. Use the current algorithm posted on Dr. Mueller's
resource page if it works for you. If it doesn't, use the
following (more involved, but guaranteed to work) recipe:
Powerpoint: draw the figure
Powerpoint: group all elements and save as picture. Save it as
enhanced windows metafile (picture. emf).
Word: open a new word document and insert the picture.emf
Office App: Print to File using
Adobe
Postscript driver (install driver if not available): produce
fn.prn
Windows: Display fn.prn in GSView (install if not available), choose convert
to EPS, save as fn.ps
if fn.prn is not complete (it happens if the file in PowerPoint
is too wide), copy the file from PowerPoint, paste it in Word and
print it again in fn.prn.
