Car-to-Car Networks

Car-to-car networks do not exist yet. But they will. The advantages of networking the cars are just too big to pass. We do not refer to connections to the Internet, just from one car to the other. Connecting the cars to the Internet would be valuable, but also relatively expensive (requiring a significant infrastucture). What we assume in terms of hardware is a relatively short range (100m - 500m) radio transceiver, a GPS receiver, a computer (microcontroller) and an interface. Total cost should be around $100-$300 if built in quantities, just a small fraction of the cost of a new car.
