esennik@ncsu.edu
Erdem Sennik received his PhD in the Department of Physics at Gebze Technical University,Kocaeli, Turkey, in 2015. During his academic life, he actively engaged in various scientific projects dedicated to the fabrication of metal and metal oxide nanostructures using diverse techniques and investigating their gas sensing capabilities. Since 2018, he has held the position of a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at NC State University. His current research interests revolve around exploring the chemical and bio-sensing capabilities of functionalized capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT) arrays for the detection of volatile gases contributing to environmental pollution and plant diseases.
Dr. Sennik’s academic achievements include receiving the “Honors in Physics Award” for graduating at the top of his class in the Physics Department of Marmara University in 2006. He also received the 1st Place Poster Award at the “Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Conference” in 2010.
He likes jigsaw puzzles, which give him relief and enjoyment. He thoroughly enjoys exploring new places to visit. He particularly enjoys taking walks in natural and scenic locations.
Erkan Kemal
Postdoctoral Research Scholar
Remzi Erkan Kemal (Member, IEEE) received the B.S. degree in Physics Engineering from Ankara University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2010, and the M.S. in Micro and Nanoelectronics from The University of Manchester, Manchester, UK, in 2012, and Ph.D degree in Electical and Electronics Engineering from Ozyegin University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2020. He is currently a Postdoctoral Scholar with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, North Carolina State University. His research focuses on the design and fabrication of ultrawideband high-frequency 1D CMUT and 2D capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT) arrays for animal and human imaging and air coupled CMUTs for acoustic micro-tapping applications.

Nairit Das
Nairit graduated from IIT Kharagpur in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and joined NCSU in 2021 for an MS in Electrical Engineering. He converted to the PhD program in 2022. His research interests lie in fabrication of CMUTs for imaging applications. Currently, he is looking into high frequency row-column CMUT arrays. When he is not running simulations in the lab or working in the cleanroom, Nairit can be found playing table tennis with friends or holed up in his room reading fantasy novels.
Eda Berberoglu
Eda, who is from Turkey, joined our lab in Fall 2022 after earning her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Middle East Technical University. Her research focus in our lab is developing imaging techniques by using RC arrays for small animal applications.
Tamzid Ibn Minhaj
Tamzid Ibn Minhaj was born and raised in Chittagong , Bangladesh. He received his B.S. degree in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering (MME) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2013. Later, he earned his M.S. in Materials Science from Missouri State University, Springfield, MO in 2017. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D in materials science and engineering at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC. His research focuses on design and fabrication of CMUTs for neurostimulation applications. He loves hanging around with friends, playing table tennis, and reading.
Utku Ozgen Karagenc
Utku Karagenc earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara,Turkey in 2023. Currently he is a PhD Student in North Carolina State University.
