After graduating he worked at the United States Patent Office in Arlington VA as a patent examiner. Wishing to continue his education Andy completed his Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at North Carolina State University in 1995 concentrated in dynamics, vibration, and control. Since graduating Andy has held a number of positions in the industry, most notably with Lord Corporation (now a part of Parker-Hanafin), as the Director of Undergraduate Laboratories in the NCSU Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, and as the owner of a consulting company, EMCS Technologies. His wish was always to complete a Ph.D. Andy is currently working toward a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at North Carolina State University while working as a Sr. Controls Engineer for Windlift, Inc. His current research interests include airborne wind energy system dynamics and control, nonlinear/adaptive control, and computational intelligence.
