Faris E. Alfaris

Faris E. Alfaris (Student member, IEEE since 2012) received the B.S. (Hons.) degree from King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2009, and the M.S. (Hons.) degree from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, Rolla, MO, USA, in 2012, both in electrical engineering. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree, under the direction of Dr. S. Bhattacharya, with the National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center, FREEDM Systems Center, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, USA. He is currently a Research Assistant with the National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center, FREEDM Systems Center, North Carolina State University. He has held internships at the ABB, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2008–2009. His current research interests include power electronics for automotive applications, grid-connected power converters for renewable resources based distributed generations, silicon carbide devices-based medium-voltage, and high-voltage power conversion.
