Mariella Carbajal Carrasco
Mariella Carbajal Carrasco is a postdoctoral researcher in the EnBiSys Lab. She develops AI-driven solutions by integrating machine learning, image analysis, and heterogeneous datasets to support sustainable production and industry practices. Her work focuses on developing models and decision-support tools for sweetpotato quality assessment, grading optimization, and stakeholder engagement through the development of interactive dashboards.
Mariella earned her Ph.D. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering at NC State, focusing on predictive modeling for sweetpotato yields using statistical, process-based, and machine learning models. Previously, she was a researcher at the International Potato Center (CIP), specializing in geospatial environmental modeling, crop modeling, and remote sensing applications using satellite and UAV data.
